Over the years, we’ve all watched as the beef between Wizkid vs Davido grew stronger. While both artists are greatly and well respected in the Afrobeat genre, pride and eagle sometimes may step in. Recently, Wizkid went on social media to release a shocker, and the internet space has been flowing with comments. In this post, I will be sharing my opinion of the beef between these two great artists. Before we begin, it is important to know who these two great minds are.
Who is Wizkid:
Born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, but popularly known as Wizkid, is a popular Lagos based singer and songwriter.. He was born in Surulere, Lagos on the 16 of July 1990 by Alhaji Muniru Olatunji Balogun and Jane Dolapo Balogun. The star was discovered by Banky W, his formal record boss at E.M.E. He is currently the owner of the Starboy Entertainment lebel which he esterblished in March 2013. His is credit with hit songs such as “Ojuelegba”, “African Bad Gyal”, “Daddy Yo” featuring Efya, “Sweet Love” featuring Drake, “Brown Skin Girl” featuring Beyoncé, “Essence” featuring Justin Bieber, “Come Closer” featuring Drake and many more.
Wizkid has won many awards and honors to his name some of which include, a Grammy Award for Best Music Video on the song “Brown Skin Girl” which he did with Beyoncé. MTV Video Music Award, Soul Train Awards, Billboard Awards, iHeartRadio Music Awards, BET Awards and MOBO Awards.
Who is Davido:
David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido was born in Atlanta, Georgia on November 21, 1992. His parent both whom are Nigerians, are Mr Adedeji Adeleke who heils from Osun State, and his mother late miss Veronica Adeleke who was from Benin, in Edo State. Just like Wizkid, Davido started music at a very young age and was a member of the music group KB International. He is credited with hits such as “Dami Duro”, “Gobe”, “One of a Kind”, “Skelewu”, and “Aye. Other hit tracks includes “If”, “Fall”, “Assurance”, “Fia”, “Blow My Mind”, “Risky”, “Fem”, “Unavailable”, and “Feel”.
The singer, songwriter, record producer and record lebel boss has many awards to his name. Some of the awards includes, the Next Rated award from The Headies, the BET Award for Best International Act, MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act, and many more. Davido has five children of whom two are boys and three of them girls.
Why The WizKid vs Davido Beef?
Like I stated above, this is my personal opinion and from my understanding, I think it has to do with personal grudge hold my one of the artist. While many may attributing the current beef to jealousy, I feel it has to do with a bit of misunderstanding that is leading to personal grudge. There was a tweet where Wizkid started that he had Puma before Davido.
Wizkid wrote;
I turned down Puma cos they could no longer afford to pay me cos I wanted more! Don’t need dat! Way bigger than every artiste u just mentioned! Not jealous! love em all.
Why I said the beef is due to grudge, is this tweet from the Ojuelegba star.
No ! Puma is big brand! But the budget they had for Africa wasn’t for me! Was cool for your client tho!
I think Wizkid wasn’t happy with Davido after the Puma deal. I think he believe’s that taking the deal for lesser amount could be costing a huge problem for African artist. My personal opinion.
Conclusion:
What ever started their beef, both artist are great in their field and should resolve the problem amicably. The Wizkid FC and 30BG gang should try as much as possible not to incite more problem by tweet for or again. My personal advice.
